Aaina and Pallavi, expanding circle of dreams!! đ
Aaina, like her older two sisters, studied at the local government school in her village Lakhahakam. The school, set up in the 1930s, has been witness to much; including creation of an international India-Pakistan border that now sits 3 km from the village. But the school probably hadnât witnessed a student who scored impeccably perfect 100s in every subject, till Aaina came along. The teachers unanimously agreed that Aaina is the best student they had seen. It is those teachers who recommended Aaina to Hamari Laado.
Â
Aainaâs regret to date is that her 10th standard scorecard reads 99% due to covid induced cancellation of exams. For the last two years of high school, she could continue at her school and study Arts subjects, but she decided to study Science. With some support, Aaina was enrolled for Science at a town school, commuting for more than an hour each way. Her parents, like most rural families, couldnât study much but their dreams and commitment for their daughtersâ education soars past their surroundings and circumstances.
After sponsoring Sufali and hearing her positive feedback on online classes, we figured those to be a great solution for girls in rural settings. And we asked our Giving Circle!
Â
Pallavi grew up in Bangalore, studied engineering in Singapore and worked there before moving to the US for higher education. Through her living, working and traveling across many countries, she has had a passion for volunteering and learning about perspectives different from hers. She felt excited to become a mentor and sponsor for Aaina, opening doors for a two way learning.Â
On February 1st 2022, a NEET preparation kit, including a tablet, was handed over to Aaina at the podium of her former Government School in village Lakhahakam, in presence of community leaders, teachers, students and her family. As Aaina starts on this journey, we are proud to see our Giving Circle expand the circle of dreams!
