Have we ever imagined what course life would have taken, if we hadn’t been blessed to get resources and guidance of various forms in our formative years, particularly related to academics and co-curriculars.
There is a very large group who do not get such resources. Hamari Laado is working with one such particularly disadvantaged group - rural girls.
Per United Nations' data of 61 developing countries, educational attainment is impacted by three factors: Gender, Location, and Income.
Girls + Rural + Poor Families (HL’s context) suffer the most in terms of education attainment and related loss of opportunities impacting their life metrics and societal outcomes. When for once, this chain of missed opportunities is overcome, we find someone like Premlata emerging from the very same context.
There are 100 million girls growing up in rural India. Many will become first generation to complete high-school, yet a vast percentage may not. Young rural girls lose the joy and confidence to build a better life due to poverty, limited access to relatable role models, and negative social norms.
Hamari Laado is founded on the core tenet that a nation is as strong as its weakest link. The segment growing up with the least amount of resources (girls studying in rural government schools) deserve the most attention, so they can become a happy and strong partner in the social and economic life of Viksit Bharat 2047 and beyond.
There's nothing quite like witnessing the beautiful transformation of the rural girls at Hamari Laado. We enable this through a pathway of research-based experiential programs, each tailored to their context and need at that grade.
Our complementary programs start at grade 5 and fulfill the core developmental needs of young girls - joy, confidence, sense of achievement, appreciation, friendship, and healthy habits. We further deliver a bridge of programs that address the subject specific skills, and post high-school resource gaps for them to pursue skill based education.
